International Geriatric Day 2018
October 1st is celebrated as "International Geriatric Day" towards raising awareness about various issues affecting the elderly. It is also a day to appreciate the contributions that older people make to society. When we are surrounded by celebration of various days, how can we forget our elders, who are our true & very important assets?
"International Geriatric Day" was celebrated enthusiastically on October 1st at our Government Hospital in Veraval by NCD Cell. On this day, people used to exercise yoga and various excercised for joints that they could do in the morning and could be useful to them. Even teawater and snacks were also arranged for them by the staff of NCD Cell. In addition to this celebration, special ward for geriatric care for the patients aged above 60 years, Dr. J.M. Parmar, Superintendent, distributed various fruits and sticks, walkers, waist belts, knee belt, etc to needy patients at free of cost. Apart from this, as a part of this celebration, patients were offered cake as a token of sweetness.
It is our responsibility to take care of all the "Elderly People" who belong to us and this was the message emphasised by the Superintendent, Dr. J.M. Parmar.
